McGrath has been a regular at Bodyscapes for more than a year, and said he’s not annoyed by the resolutioners who now fill the gym. Tod McGrath of Hingham is one Bodyscapes member planning to visit the gym more frequently. “There’s a misconception that there’s a ton of new memberships, but it’s only about 30 to 35 percent more than an average month.” ![]() “With the new year, people recommit, and usage goes up at least 30 percent in January,” Linn said. Jeff Linn, executive director of the Weymouth Club, said usage for existing members increases as significantly as the number of new memberships come January. “They get in over their heads, and say that they’re going to come five days a week at 5:30 in the morning, and most people can’t keep that up.”įor dedicated gym-goers, the new year is an opportunity to step up their workout regimen.
